St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Santa Run

The Ballinderrry Christmas Fun Run in aid of St. Vincent de Paul will take place on Sunday 3rd December at 11:30am. Registration from 11am in the Ballinderry Community Hub. There will be a number of events taking place on the day. Everyone welcome!

Christmas Dinner & Jumper Day.

Children will have Christmas dinner in school on Friday 8th December. Children can wear Christmas jumpers, hats and clothing. School will finish at 1pm.

Everyone is looking forward to the Christmas dinner made by our super canteen staff, Margaret, Colette and Ann-Marie.

Christmas Show - ‘Christmas Around the World’

Our Christmas Show – ‘Christmas Around the World’ will take place on Tuesday 12th December with Matinee Show at 10am and Evening Show at 6:30pm in the school hall. The P1 children will perform their Christmas Show ‘Angel Express’. The P2 to P7 children will be performing ‘Christmas Around the World’ where you will discover a little bit about Christmas around the globe. The P4-P7 instrumental group will also be performing Christmas tunes on the night along with our school choir.

Following the Education Authority health and safety advice and insurance guidelines, we will unfortunately have to limit numbers to two tickets per family for the evening show in order to accommodate all families. It is important that this request of two family members for the evening show is strictly adhered to due to hall capacity.

Pre-purchase of tickets is essential for both shows. Admission is by ticket only with a limit of 200 tickets available for each show. Tickets are £5 and must be paid for in the shop section on School Money. Tickets will be issued from the school office. Deadline for purchase of tickets is Thursday 30th November. Any evening show tickets remaining after the above deadline, will be available on a first come first basis for additional family members who wish to attend.

Annual Christmas Draw 2023

In association with our ‘Friends of Derrychrin’ PTA, we will be holding our annual Christmas Draw at our Christmas Show on Tuesday 12th December.

Tickets cost £10 for a book of 10 or £1 per ticket.

Each family will receive two books of tickets and we would kindly ask for your support in the sale of the tickets. All ticket stubs and money should be returned to the school by Monday11th December. Should any family require additional tickets, please contact the school office.

Primary 1 Christmas Show & Open Morning

Our P1 Christmas Show ‘Angel Express’ will take place in our school hall on Wednesday 13th December at 9:30am. All P1 parents/guardians are welcome to attend, and we invite prospective P1 parents who have a child starting P1 in September 2024. The children and staff from the Ballinderry Playgroup will also be in attendance.

After the P1 show, prospective P1 parents are welcome to have a tour of Derrychrin PS. This will be an opportunity to experience the family atmosphere, view our wonderful school, meet our fantastic school staff, and get a feel for school life at Derrychrin PS.

FitMinds Festive Fun!

On Tuesday 19th December, FitMinds coach Ronan will visit the school to perform FitMinds Zumba dance with all the children. A great morning ahead for all the children to enjoy many Christmas tunes while sharing the festive experience through fitness dance.

Singing Santa Sing Along!

On Wednesday 20th December, Singing Santa will visit the school in his campervan to perform many Christmas songs and deliver special treats to the children.

Two wonderful events and Christmas treats for the children to look forward to in the build up to the Christmas holidays.

NO Christmas Gifts for Staff

At this time of year, children and families feel pressure to buy staff a Christmas gift. This is an unnecessary expense for families especially in the current financial situation and the cost-of-living crisis.

We would like to take the opportunity to say while we are always extremely grateful for the parents’ kind generosity, to reduce any unnecessary stress for parents, we would ask not to buy gifts for the staff.

Our staff are more than happy to receive the words ‘Thank You’ as an acknowledgement. As a staff, we feel that it is a privilege and a pleasure to get the opportunity to teach and support the children of Derrychrin.
