🕊️ Congratulations to our Confirmandi 2026 🕊️
25th Mar 2026
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Primary 7 pupils from Derrychrin PS and Ballylifford PS who received the Sacrament of Confirmation this evening.
It was a beautiful and prayerful ceremony, led by Archbishop Eamon Martin, alongside Fr. Donnelly and Fr. Juan, who spoke with great warmth and admiration for the children, their families, and all in attendance.
In his homily, Archbishop Martin described the occasion as a joyful celebration, reminding the children that they are friends of Jesus and highlighting the significance of the date, 25th March — the Feast of the Annunciation.

He reflected on how the children, filled with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, have the potential to make a meaningful difference in the world. Echoing the words of the psalm, he encouraged them to “renew the face of the earth.”
A sincere thank you to Mr. O’Neill, Deirdre, and Katharine for preparing the children so thoughtfully for this special day, and for the beautiful artwork displayed in both the chapel and school.
A special word of thanks to Miss Hughes for her dedication in preparing the children so beautifully for the choir. Her commitment and care were evident in the uplifting singing throughout the ceremony, which added so much to the occasion. We are especially grateful for her efforts and support in ensuring everything came together so wonderfully.
Thanks also to Donal Canavan for his work with the instrumental group, and to all the staff who supported the choir and nurtured the children throughout their faith journey at Derrychrin PS.
Many thanks to John O’Neill for capturing the evening so wonderfully. Photographs can be purchased by contacting John via email at rallypictures@btinternet.com or by telephone.
We also extend our appreciation to Philomena McGuckin for organising and guiding the altar servers, and to our Sacristan, John Wilson, along with the altar society, for preparing the chapel so beautifully with floral displays and Confirmation decorations.
As a school community, we are immensely proud of all the children. We hope they enjoyed a truly special evening with their families, creating memories to treasure for years to come.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful,
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created,
and you will renew the face of the earth.
