Pilgrim Walk to Mark the Canonisation of Carlo Acutis

15th Apr 2025

Please read message below from Archbishop of Amragh, Eamon Martin and St. Patrick’s Youth.

As you may already know, the young Italian Blessed, Carlo Acutis, will be canonised a Saint in Rome on Sunday, 27th April 2025. Blessed Carlo (1991–2006), a millennial with a deep love for the Eucharist, has become a symbol of youthful faith and modern holiness. Many young people across the Archdiocese feel a strong connection to him. Born in London to Italian parents and raised in Milan, Carlo was an ordinary teenager who lived an extraordinary life of devotion and trust in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

To mark the day of his canonisation, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh, will host a special Pilgrim Walk dedicated to Carlo Acutis, led by Archbishop Eamon. The walk will begin at 10:00am on Sunday, 27th April, which will be followed by Mass at 11:00am, celebrating Carlo’s life, faith, and journey to sainthood. I attach a poster for sharing with your community and online and also a series of video reflections that you may wish to share.

We are aware this date falls at the end of the Easter holidays, but warmly invite students, teachers, and members of your school and parish community to take part in this meaningful celebration.

We especially welcome any young people who would like to actively participate in the Pilgrim Walk to get in touch by emailing armaghyouth@aracoeli.com
