Ash Wednesday Prayer Service at Derrychrin PS
Today, we came together as a school community to mark Ash Wednesday, an important and meaningful moment in the Church calendar. This special service helped us begin our Lenten journey with reflection, reverence, and a renewed sense of purpose.
We extend our sincere thanks to Fr. Donnelly, who visited Derrychrin PS this morning to distribute ashes to all pupils and staff. The children showed great respect throughout the service, listening attentively to his messages about the significance of Lent and Ash Wednesday. Their thoughtful responses and quiet reflection helped create a very prayerful atmosphere.
A huge well done to all pupils from P1–P6 who participated with such reverence. Moments like this remind us of the importance of humility, kindness, and preparation as we begin the season of Lent.
We would also like to thank John Wilson for assisting Fr. Donnelly with the distribution of ashes and also to Mrs. Tohill who distributed ashes to our P7 pupils on their arrival back from their educational trip.
As we move through the Lenten season, may this time inspire us all to show compassion, make positive choices, and look after one another.
