'Ballinderry Cookbook'

19th Feb 2026

Dear Parents,

As part of the Junior Entrepreneur Programme, Primary 7 have decided upon a business idea for 2026, to create a 'Ballinderry Cookbook'.

We would like parents, family and friends to send us their local recipes so we can compile them to create a local book of recipes. These recipes may be for starters, mains, desserts, bakery dishes, sauces, etc.- any family recipe or delicacy that you would like to share and have published in our cookbook.

Unfortunately, through time family recipes are lost, never again to be created and enjoyed. Our aim is to collect local family recipes, professionally publish them, along with naming the person/family who donated each recipe, so that these can be shared and enjoyed for years to come.

Recipes that we find online or in commercially produced cookbooks can taste bland and the ingredients are difficult or impossible to find. Local recipes are used in the community, enjoyed by all and easier to create; they have ‘a local twist’!

If interested, please write down the recipe on this page (listing the ingredients and the method of how to make it) and return it to the Primary 7 pupils by Friday 27th February; this will allow us time to collect the recipes, compile the recipe book and have it published and available for purchase by the end of April/early May.

Thank you for all your help and we look forward to creating a recipe book that the families of this area will enjoy and savour for many years to come.

 The pupils of Primary 7.
