Catholic Schools Week 2026 – Grandparents’ Day Celebration

18th Jan 2026

Catholic Schools Week will be celebrated in Derrychrin Primary School from Monday 26th January to Friday 30th January 2026.

The theme for Catholic Schools Week 2026 is “Catholic Schools: Normal Lives, Called to Holiness.”
This theme invites us to reflect on the extraordinary call to holiness within the ordinary moments of daily life. Inspired by Pope Francis’s reflections on Blessed Carlo Acutis, who is soon to be canonised as the first millennial saint, we take this week as a special opportunity to celebrate faith, family and community.

We are delighted to announce that our Grandparents’ Day Celebration will take place on Tuesday, 27th January 2026 at 9:30am in our School Hall

As part of the celebration:

  • P1–P4 will lead a Grandparents’ Day Prayer Service, honouring the love, wisdom and support grandparents bring to our children’s lives.
  • P5–P7 will lead a St. Brigid’s Day Prayer Service, marking the feast of one of Ireland’s most cherished saints and recognising her legacy of faith, hospitality and kindness.
Following the prayer services, tea, coffee and refreshments will be served in the school hall. Grandparents will then have the opportunity to visit classrooms and see their grandchildren.

We look forward to welcoming our grandparents in celebrating this very special occasion with our school community.
