Class of 2026 End of Year Celebration

18th Jun 2026

We came together to honour and celebrate our wonderful Primary 7 pupils as they prepare to leave Derrychrin Primary School and begin the next chapter of their journey. It was a truly special occasion, shared with parents, families, and friends.

A huge well done to all the children who contributed so beautifully to the celebration Mass. From the readings, Prayers of the Faithful, songs to the Offertory procession and instrumental performances, each child played their part with great confidence and reverence. We extend our sincere thanks to Fr. McGuigan for leading such a meaningful and joyful service in Fr. Donnelly's absence. Thank you also to Miss Hughes for the lovely music and for preparing the children so well.

Following the Mass, families gathered in the school hall for a heartwarming assembly, “A to Z Memories of Derrychrin,” where we fondly revisited the many special moments that have shaped the children’s time with us.

Everyone had the opportunity to enjoy the fantastic Leavers’ Video, created by Eamon McGarrity. This wonderful keepsake captured the children’s journey from their early days in P1 in 2018 through to their final year, accompanied by a selection of meaningful songs celebrating friendship and growth. We are delighted to be able to share this video for everyone to enjoy.

Afterwards, family members enjoyed refreshments, while the children were treated to a lovely lunch prepared by our canteen staff. Thanks to Margaret, Caitriona and Mandy.

Thank you to Gemma, Deirdre, Katharine, and Aidy for setting up the hall and preparing the gift bags the children received, which included cupcakes from Erin at Bridge Bakes, personalised “Class of 2026” keyrings, a bookmark, and a group photograph of the children.

To all our teaching and support staff—thank you for your care, encouragement, and unwavering commitment throughout the children’s time at Derrychrin. A special word of thanks to Mr. O’Neill and Katharine for their support and dedication during this final year, and also to Deirdre, who has been with the class since P2.

As we say farewell to the Class of 2026, we do so with immense pride and joy. This is a time to celebrate all that they have achieved and to look forward with excitement to the opportunities ahead. Their new schools are incredibly fortunate to welcome such talented, kind, and caring young people.

On behalf of the entire Derrychrin community—staff, pupils, and Board of Governors—we thank our P7 class for being outstanding ambassadors and role models. While it is sad to see your Derrychrin journey come to an end, we are excited for all that lies ahead.

This year is especially significant as a number of families come to the end of their journey with our school. We thank you sincerely for your support and for being such an important part of the Derrychrin community. You will always remain part of our story.

We wish all our P7 pupils and their families every success, happiness, and blessing in the years ahead.
