Derrychrin PS 'TAKE 5 – STEPS TO WELL-BEING' WEEK

2nd May 2025

As a school, we continue to develop pupil awareness of CLANG and the TAKE 5 steps to wellbeing to help identify opportunities to promote wellbeing, not only with the pupils, but also with staff, parents and the wider school community. We have a pupil 'Take 5' notice board in the hall, we acknowledge 'Take 5' CLANG at whole school assembly, we complete various 'Take 5' lessons from P3-P7.

From 19th-23rd May we will hold a 'Take 5' Week with various activities across the week.

Monday will involve CONNECT activities through circle time.

Tuesday will involve ACTIVE activities with outdoor play activities and mindfulness techniques.

Wednesday will involve taking NOTICE through a gratitude wall.

Thursday will involve LEARNING through TAKE 5 lessons and also a special assembly delivered by Lough Neagh rescue highlighting the importance of water safety.

Friday will involve GIVE with presentations to our chosen charities for this year. We will also give the children a TAKE 5 CLANG certificate for their efforts across the week.

TAKE 5 also complements the EA’s new Health and Well Being Strategy launched in 2020. The key themes of promoting, education and supporting Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies, Social Health, Giving Back and Financial Wellbeing. Developing the 5 steps to well-being will support everyone in recognising stress and anxiety and strategies to overcome it.
