Easter Raffle & Mary's Meals Lenten Fundraiser

3rd Apr 2022
Easter Raffle & Mary's Meals Lenten Fundraiser

As part of our fundraising for Mary’s Meals, we have organised an Easter Egg Raffle during Lent. There are two Easter Eggs prizes for each class and an additional Easter Egg for each Key Stage. We have raised just over £300 to date which is fantastic.

Tickets are 20p each or 6 for £1.The draw will take place on Wednesday 13th April.

We have attached a message and a video link from Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, The Founder of Mary's Meals.

Dear friend,

I am sure every one of us is feeling deeply moved and disturbed by the terrible events unfolding in Ukraine. We are praying for peace.

Too many children in this world are living in countries where fighting has become part of everyday life. This includes in South Sudan, where we serve our life-changing meals. One third of children living in this country are suffering chronic malnutrition. Half are missing school. Millions are displaced. And none of them have ever known anything but war. I wouldn't blame them if they gave up.

Even 45-year-old Moses – one of our partners in South Sudan – says he has never seen peace in his lifetime.

But Moses has seen hope. Many times, he has witnessed what starts to happen to these children when you serve them Mary’s Meals. He has watched their appearance change and how they now stay in class – and even finish primary school.

Like Moses, these children know what hope looks like – a colourful bowl full of maize and beans, served by a group of singing ladies from their village. And they would sing thanks to you too if they could.

At this very difficult time it gives me joy to know that the children of South Sudan aren’t giving up. And nor are we. We know that no child on this earth is unreachable.
