Grandparents’ Day & St. Brigid’s Day Assembly 2024

1st Feb 2024

Grandparents’ Day & St. Brigid’s Day Assembly 2024

As part of Catholic Schools Week 2024, we welcomed our Grandparents and family members to our joint Grandparents and St. Brigid's Day assembly this morning.

Thank you to Fr. Donnelly who led morning prayer and blessed the St. Brigid crosses made by staff and P6 pupils and the children sang ‘We Sing a Song to Brigid’.

Grandparents’ Day is often the highlight of Catholic Schools Week, celebrating the immense contribution they make to the faith lives of their grandchildren. Pope Francis continues to offer many prayers to Grandparents and highlights the important role they play in family life. Unfortunately, we had Grandparents unable to attend or who are no longer with us. We remembered them throughout our assembly, and were very much in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you to Miss McVey and the P1-P4 pupils who led the Grandparents’ Day assembly and our P5-P7 pupils who led the St. Brigid’s Day assembly. Thank you to the class teachers and the teaching assistants for preparing the children so well. They have also been produced lovely artwork which was on display in the school hall, in the classrooms and throughout the school. Thank you to our Board of Governor Chairperson, Mrs. Geraldine Mullan who offered kinds words to everyone connected to the school community as we all strive to ensure the best for all the children.

Our Grandparents got an opportunity to visit the classrooms and get a photo with their Grandchildren. Everyone was then treated to the lovely refreshments. Special thank you to Margaret, Ann-Marie, Colette and Gemma for organising refreshments.

It was a lovely to have the school community together celebrating special a special occasion. We thank everyone for attending.
