Grandparents' Day Assembly & Catholic Schools Week 2023

25th Jan 2023

Grandparents Day Assembly 2023

As part of Catholic Schools Week 2023, we welcomed our Grandparents and family members to our joint Grandparents and St. Brigid's Day assembly this morning.

Grandparents Day is often the highlight of Catholic Schools Week, celebrating the immense contribution Grandparents make to the faith lives of their grandchildren. Pope Francis continues to offer many prayers to Grandparents and highlights the important role they play in family life. Unfortunately, we had Grandparents unable to attend or who are no longer with us. We remembered them throughout our assembly, and were very much in our thoughts and prayers.

Special thank you to Miss McVey and the P1-P4 pupils who led the Grandparents’ Day assembly and to Mrs McGuckin and the P5-P7 pupils who led the St. Brigid’s Day assembly. Thank you to the class teachers and the teaching assistants for preparing the children so well with their prayers, songs, poems, and readings. They have also been produced lovely artwork which was on display in the school hall, in the classrooms and throughout the school. Thank you to our Board of Governor Chairperson, Mrs Geraldine Mullan who read the Grandparents' Prayer and for expressing her kinds words to the school at the end of the assembly.

There was an opportunity for our Grandparents to visit the classrooms and get a photo with their Grandchildren. Everyone was then treated to the lovely tea, coffee, scones and biscuits. Special thank you to Margaret, Gemma, Siobhan and the canteen staff for organising refreshments.

It was a lovely school community celebration and we thank everyone for attending.
