IZAK9 - Bring Your Grown Up

27th Feb 2025

As you have already seen on our social media we teamed up with Ulster University, IZAK 9 and the Department for the Economy for a collaborative after-school initiative called BYGU (Bring Your Grown Up).

The four week programme aimed for all Key Stage 2 (P5/P6/P7) children and their grown-ups (parents/guardians/family members) in fun-filled sessions of active maths using the IZAK9 cubes. It was a brilliant opportunity for all adults to work with their Key Stage 2 children in a fun, creative and highly engaging environment. All whilst helping develop strong mathematical and reasoning skills.

A huge thanks to all the parents, grandparents, family members, children and staff, who joined us for our four IZAK9 Bring your Grown Up sessions over the past four weeks.

It was fantastic to see families working together, solving challenges and most importantly having fun with maths! The enthusiasm, (competition!) teamwork, laughs and of course the buns made this a great success.  It really emphasised how active learning can be so engaging, exciting and very much a part of every day life.

Shared learning doesn’t stop here! By working together at home, children can:

  • Build confidence in maths through discussion and play.
  • Develop problem-solving and reasoning skills
  • See how maths connects to real-life situations
  • Enjoy learning in a fun and supportive environment.
  • Increase their motivation and enthusiasm.
Ulster University request feedback from all adults who attended the sessions. Please complete the survey by clicking  attached link

Your support is much appreciated in this important reporting stage of the project.

Many thanks
