South Derry Cumann na mBunscol Division 1 Boys’ Football Championship Winners 2026

Congratulations to our boys’ Gaelic football team on winning the South Derry Cumann na mBunscol Division 1 Boys’ Football Championship today at Glen GAC, Maghera.

The team were drawn in a highly competitive group alongside St. Mary’s PS Greenlough, Anahorish PS, St. Mary’s PS Glenview, New Row St. Patrick’s, and Holy Family PS, Magherafelt. They progressed to the semi-final where they faced St. Mary’s PS, Bellaghy in a hard-fought contest full of end-to-end football, emerging deserved winners.

In the final, the boys delivered an outstanding performance to overcome a strong St. Brigid’s PS, Mayogall side and secure the title.

A sincere thank you to their teacher, Mr O’Neill, who prepared the team so well through after-school coaching sessions and participation in previous tournaments. Mr O’Neill and Mr McElroy were extremely proud of the boys, who consistently demonstrated our school’s core values throughout the competition. Their effort, determination, resilience, and sportsmanship were evident in every game.

We would also like to thank Doire Cumann na mBunscol, for organising another excellent tournament. Our appreciation is also extended to Watty Graham’s Glen GAC for their outstanding facilities and hospitality, and to all referees who officiated on the day.

This is a fantastic achievement for the team, and they can now look forward to the All-County Finals evening on Thursday 11th June at Owenbeg.
